Another Fine Mess! ![]() The City of Bristol Brass Band's annual outing to the Chipping Sodbury Town Hall last night was again a success with the audience. The concert included pieces featuring different instruments from around the band: Hey Jude (Lennon & McCartney) featured the horn section. The trombones finally got to play I Will Follow Him. The front row cornets played a beautiful rendition of Matt Kingston's arrangement of She Moved Through the Fair. The last section to feature were the euphoniums in their debut performance of the Laurel and Hardy duet Another Fine Mess! arranged by Sandy Smith; not only were they dressed up as the comic duo but they also managed a little choreography in the middle of the piece, too! Well done to all the players. This concert also saw an opportunity for the Learner Band to perform a few of their pieces, too. Led by Steve Ellis, the main Band's principal cornet player, the Learners did themselves proud with pieces that included the theme from Titanic and West Indian Carnival
"Could you please convey our thanks to the Band for the wonderful entertainment provided at our concert last Wednesday. As people left the hall there were many complimentary comments and smiling faces. "Many thanks again to everybody; our best wishes for the future. "Regards, "Graham Miller (on behalf of The Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury)." A huge thank you must go to the Rotary Club for excellent organisational skills in this concert every year: we look forward to going back next year! Our next outing is to Downend on Saturday, 19th May. Please come and support the Band and help raise some funds for the Children's Hospice South West and Christ Church Missions.
