On Saturday, City of Bristol Brass Band competed against 7 other bands (including the Welsh Regional champions, Goodwick and runners-Up Llwydcoed) in the South East Wales Brass Band Association (Ebbw Vale) contest. The rehearsal at 11.30 was a good one (most likely due to the excellent teas, coffees and bacon butties available!) but our performance on stage was not our best. As is usual, we came off comparing it to other performances of the test-piece, Cross Patonce (Goff Richards). At the results ceremony, our conductor Ceri was presented with a life membership of the Association before the placings were announced. First was the presentation to the best instrumentalist of the day, the Solo Cornet from Goodwick Band; then on to the placings: we had come third behind Goodwick and winners Treherbert band, so maybe our performance wasn't so bad after all!
Our chairman, Ben Kane, said: "Well done to everyone at Ebbw Vale on Saturday. It was a great day and we put in a solid performance. The cheque is in the post... :) " Fro more information, please visit the 4barsrest website.
