On Sunday April 23rd, the band were joined by Homechoir and UWE Singers, performing alongside thousands of singers from around the world, in special "Prom for St George's Day" at the fabulous 1532 Performing Arts Centre of Bristol Grammar School
Proceeds from the concert were donated to Alive Activities, a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life of older people and their carers. The performance saw a large and appreciative audience in attendance, waving flags, singing along to and enjoying a series of patriotic favourites from the band and both choirs, who also combined together with a massed virtual Homechoir from across the globe, who joined together on screen with the live band & choir for massed performances of Parry's Jerusalem and Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus The band thoroughly enjoyed performing at the event and look forward to performing in additional Proms themed concerts soon On Saturday April 22nd, the band featured in an epic "Day at the Movies” concert in celebration the 111th Birthday of the fabulous Curzon Cinema Clevedon. The band performed a series of movie music from throughout the decades, which included a selection of blockbuster favourites, plus some tremendous live screened performances of pioneering black & white silent shorts by British film pioneer William Haggar. At the event, the band also gave the English premiere performances of two new movie scores for band, expertly transcribed for brass by the prominent composer | arranger Christopher Painter - firstly, the "Mountain Scene" (from "The Blue Scar") by Grace Williams - the first female composer of music for film - and also a new setting of music from "The Lone Ranger"
The band were delighted to be part of this special celebration for the magnificent Curzon Cinema, and look forward to returning to the venue in December to reprise "The Snowman - Live!", our special one hour Christmas show for families which saw two sell out performances at the Curzon last year Tickets for "The Snowman - Live!" at the Curzon will be available from this summer |
