GBBA's annual March and test piece contest.

After a reasonable result at Torquay 2 weeks ago (6th November) where the band was placed 2nd playing Kalaedascope, the band travelled a little closer to home to the Forest of Dean's Five Acres Theatre. This was the GBBA's annual March and test piece contest.

Rehersals went well with a few slips but nothing too bad, even the percussionists were banging the right things in the right places!!

Thanks to Bream band for letting us use their bandroom for a final blow before the contest. So after a tale or two from the MD, we set off for the Theatre.
The band was drawn 3 out of 4 bands in section 'B' and duely waited their turn. Once on stage the band started their march, Mephistopheles. All went well, then onto the Test piece, Kaleidoscope.
                                    Results time.
Some good comments from the adjudicator, Paul Holland, about the general playing of the bands today, and congratulated all the bands for a good day of music making. He did comment that most bands played loud with little or no difference in dynamics excpet one that almost made 'Piano'. Oops.
                                    Section 'B' Results.

The following are the trophies the CoBBB won.
Best Horn Section - City of Bristol Brass Band - Mark Gaisford, Jane Ellwood, Tracey Gill and if you count the flugal our Pete Boyles

Best Percussion section - City of Bristol Brass Band (remember there was only two of them) Dave Tittymus and Nick Williams. As I said there were only TWO of them!!!
So an excellent result for the City of Bristol Brass Band. Well done to the band and especially Ceri who stitched it all together with 'so much musicality' - adjudicator comments on the stage
