Gloucestershire Brass Band Association
Own Choice March and Test piece Contest

Waiting to perform
On the 20th November 2011 The City of Bristol Brass Band made their way over the Severn to Coleford for the last time. Don't worry the contest is still going strong but next year it will be held in Ross.
The band chose The New Colonial by RB Hall as their March due to its lending for a swagger march tempo. The test piece was the same as they chose for Torquay 2 weeks earlier, the fantastic Suite Gothic by Leon Boellmann.
FACT, did you know that these two pieces were composed in the same year! 1895. Ceri knows his stuff you know.
The band took to the stage and played the pieces. After a few shandy's in the bar the results were in. The band took 3rd in both March and Test piece. Although not as high as we expected, this was a credible result. Maybe a bit too much swagger in the march? You decide. click below to hear the march and test piece.
